1. Composite
2. Zone
3. Grid
Composite
A Composite soil sample is one 0-12” sample. It is taken by walking a representative line through the field and collecting columns of soil. We recommend that you also take one 12-24” soil sample and have its NPKS analyzed.
Zone
With the Zone method of soil sampling we walk several zones where soil variations have been determined to exist, collecting several 0-12” soil samples and one composite 12-24” soil sample from the field.
Grid
The Grid method simply covers more ground than the zone method. We collect one representative 0-12” soil sample from every one to three acres of the field. Grid samples also include two composite 12-24” samples. The Grid soil sampling methods is employed to precisely even up your field so that no acre is over-applied or under-applied nutrients.
